Catching Up

Happy New Year!!! I opted not to post while I was home visiting family in Ohio. But, to recap my 2 1/2 week trip, I had a wonderful visit and spent lots and lots of time w/my family. I got to see all my niece's and nephews--their ages are 13, 9, 6, 5, 4, 19 months, and 4 months......and that equals a very tired Aunt Kimmy!!!!!! On most days I drove w/my Mom to work. She's the Accountant for a mall. Since it was so cold out, I opted to try a new workout---"mall walking". Believe it or not, there's a group of 100+ people who meet everyday and power walk around the mall before the stores open. Well, let me tell you, this was a really good workout!!!

After my daily dose of mall walking, I'd get my Starbucks and head over to my brother's house. He's got the 6 yr old, 19 month, and 4 month old. Mostly, we hung out and brought the babies to see Mom for lunch. We also visited our sister, walked around the mall, etc. A few of the days I watched the babies while my brother did some side jobs. Wow--they WORE ME OUT!!!!! I love them all to pieces, but thank goodness I don't have kids!!!!! I also spent some time w/my in-laws, as they live about 20 miles from my parent's.

Now I'm back home and (trying) to get into the swing of things, to include my workout schedule. While in Ohio, I bought a month membership to a gym near my parent's house and worked out almost everyday. I cut back on my normal workouts because I wanted to spend as much time w/the family. I think I'm paying for it now!!!!

Oh yea, I start school on Monday, 7 Jan. Holy smokes, I hope I'm ready to be a full time student!!!! I bought books and they cost a fortune---to the toon of $750. What a rip-off!!! For those of you who don't know, my degree will be in Embalming/Funeral Directing. I have an undergrad in Biology/Criminal Justice, so I'm really looking forward to my new career/life!!!

This is my last month of active duty Air Force life. I officially separate on 29 Jan, and will swear into the Air Force Reserves on 30 Jan. That means 1 weekend a month, 2 weekends every 3 months (for the Officers) and 2 weeks a year. But, I'm changing career fields, so that means going back to tech school to learn my new job. The school is 3 months long in San Antonio, TX. Tentatively, I'll be going from May-Aug 08.

I anticipate 2008 being a busy year for me! As I mentioned before, I'm training for the Cowtown Marathon on 23 Feb, the Nashville Marathon on 26 Apr, and I hope to do whatever half-marathons my schedule permits. Also, I'm hoping for the Chicago Marathon again this year.

Glad you're safely home!

What a unique career choice. I'd really like to hear more about it. Fascinating!

This will be the first Shamrock Marathon for me. Training starts TODAY!
